✨ Day 6 — Behind the Seams: A Day in the Life at Guru Designs
People see the final look — the photoshoots, the runway moments, the clients smiling in their custom pieces — but very few get to see what really happens behind the scenes at Guru Designs. Every stitch, every hem, every bold idea starts in the quiet moments before the world wakes up. My days are a blend of creativity, discipline, alignment, and service, and each one looks a little different depending on what the universe has in store.
I start most mornings with intention. Before I touch any fabric, I take a few minutes to breathe, pray, meditate, and set the tone for the day. I’ve learned that if my spirit isn’t aligned, my creativity won’t flow. So I center myself first — sometimes with a journal prompt, sometimes with aromatherapy, sometimes simply sitting in silence. That’s the moment where the designer, the healer, and the woman inside me all come together.
Once I’m grounded, the real work begins. Consultations, fittings, and measurements come first because communication is the root of good design. Clients trust me with their visions, their insecurities, their celebrations, and their bodies — and I never take that lightly. Whether I’m guiding a bride, adjusting a suit, or creating a birthday look for a child, every project gets the same level of attention and care.
Then comes the part most people don’t see: the cutting, pinning, steaming, pressing, sewing, ripping seams, redoing hems, perfecting curves, shaping silhouettes, and making sure the garment feels just as good as it looks. Some days I’m working on bespoke gowns. Other days, I’m crafting kids’ birthday outfits, reversible bucket hats, men’s trousers, or prepping wellness materials for clients. My studio stays full — of fabric, patterns, creativity, music, laughter, and sometimes a little chaos — but it’s my sanctuary.
I also balance being a teacher, coach, wife, designer, and wellness practitioner. That means squeezing in fabric runs, answering messages, preparing tailoring orders, packaging merch, updating the website, or creating content for Guru Designs social pages. Purpose doesn’t clock out — and passion doesn’t wait for perfect timing.
Before the day ends, I tidy my space, reflect on the work I accomplished, and prepare for the next day. Some nights I work late, especially when inspiration hits. But even on the busiest days, I’m grateful — because this is the life I prayed for. A life of creativity, community, freedom, and alignment.
Behind the seams, Guru Designs is more than a brand — it’s my purpose in motion. And every day I’m blessed to live it
